A Dollar a Deal

The Asheville Board of Realtors® is encouraging its members to donate “a dollar a deal” in support of Homeward Bound, an organization focused on ending homelessness in our area.

Donation houses have been placed in various attorneys’ and real estate offices around the area so that Realtors® – or anyone else – can make a donation after a real estate closing.

The project was spear-headed by the Asheville Board of Realtors® Affordable Housing Committee.  Randall Barnett, Committee Chair, who is also an art teacher in the Creative Arts Training program at First Baptist Church, inspired teenage members of his art class to create and custom-paint the donation houses.  Barnett explains:

“The Asheville Board’s Affordable Housing committee is focused on community involvement and support.  We wanted a creative way to educate our members and the public about Homeward Bound’s efforts and to encourage support.  Thanks to the talent and imagination of these young artists, we have a great way to do that.”

Homeward Bound’s mission is working with others to end the cycle of homelessness. To learn more about the organization and its programs, visit www.hbofa.org.

“Homeward Bound is doing wonderful and important work in our community.  We are proud to support their efforts.” –Mark Ledbetter, President of the Asheville Board of Realtors®.
