Local Women’s Shelter Seeking $75,000 In Fundraising To Complete Building

Land of Sky Association of REALTORS® proposes to match up to $37,500 of needed funds. 

Asheville, NC (December 4, 2015) — Local  REALTORS® Association annnounced initiative to assist Western Carolina Rescue Mission complete woman’s shelter on Patton Avenue. The shelter, located at 255 Patton Avenue, had been scheduled to open November 2015, however due to rising construction costs and limited funding, the project was forced to come to a stop. Costs to finish the building that will house single mothers and children is estimated to be $75,000. The Land of Sky Association of REALTORS® and the North Carolina Homeowners Alliance are joining hands with The Western Carolina Rescue Mission to raise the $75,000.

A Generosity Campaign (an Indie GoGo website) has been set up online to raise the necessary funds to complete the project. For every dollar contributed to this campaign, up to $37,500 will be matched in donations from the Land of Sky Association of REALTORS®. The shelter needs to raise a minimum of $37,500 by December 31, 2015 to make this campaign a success.

Western North Carolina’s homeless population includes more than 85 single mothers with over 150 infants and children needing a roof over their head. In additional there are over 160 single women without children who need assistance. The current Rescue Ministry shelter is so full that cots and cribs line the hallways on frigid nights.

The building is 90% complete. The $75,000 funding will complete the building and provide necessary shelter.
